Spring Retreat

Friday, March 16 to Sunday, March 17, 2012

Attend all or parts of it

We are asleep.  The sleep, while not our natural state, permeates our existence, almost like a shadow nature.  We reinforce this sleep-state to armor ourselves against the pain and sorrow of a life lived without purpose, without joy.  The time has come for Vision.  The time is now to Awaken.

                                                                                                           {So Ki Ku/Flying Red Horse}

You are invited to join us for a very special meditation retreat, led by Zen instructor and Earth Teacher Billy Flying Red Horse Starnes.  At this retreat the concept of the personal Vision Quest will be examined in light of the challenges of Zen study and practice in an increasingly technology-dependent modern world.

The Vision Quest is a throwback to a past we all share and is not unique to the First Nations Peoples of the Americas.  Societies the world over have incorporated versions of this ceremony of individual reflection and awakening as a vital component of their spiritual search for thousands of generations.

Through silent meditation, discourse and much humor, Red Horse will demonstrate a "Zendian" approach to the practice of insight meditation and an appreciation for Nature and Life.

About the Master
Flying Red Horse is a native-born American of Cherokee, Scot and English descent. He is an Earth Teacher in the Flower Soldier Tradition.  A dedicated student of comparative religion, Red Horse (Zen name: So Ki Ku) received his Zen training and was ordained as a Disciple (Minister) by Reverend Michael (ZenKai TaiUn) Elliston-Roshi of the Atlanta Soto Zen Center in 1995.

Zen. It's not what you think. It is what you do.
