The meditation groups listed here are led by a trained and authorized meditation leader (Upasaka) from Lotus Zen Temple, who is also an active member of the temple. Meditation has become popular, which is beneficial to many people. To some, meditation remains ephemeral and may amount to no more than a temporary new-age trip. To others, meditation has become an aid in seeking more long-lasting spiritual rooting of life. Like among all trades and disciplines, Zen meditation adheres to authentic structure, such as the direction of a qualified teacher, specific Zen postures, breathing techniques and individual guidance. This will ultimately lead to success. In our practice, the timing is 15-20 minutes zazen (sitting meditation) — five minutes kinhin (walking meditation) — and again 15-20 minutes zazen. At the end is either a dharma reading or discussion with tea time. There
is no prerequisite to participate. People from all walks of life, faith
or persuasion are welcomed. There are no membership dues. All that is
appreciated is an open mind. Feel free to contact a group near you about more details.
